2-13-09 What is journalism?
Definition:Define “Journalism” in 1-3 sentences. ~Currtent events that are newsworthry, that are published or broadcast to an audience.
List and describe the six criteria of newsworthiness....
TITLE DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE
1. Timeliness (its current)
2. Proximity (How close you are to it)
3. Significance (events)
4. Prominence (people)
5. Unusualness (odd events)
6. Human interest (Some sort of a positive story) (baby dolphine born at zoo)
What are the advantages of print journalism?
1. Much more controll over what you read/ learn about
2. much easier to save and go back to
3. Much more indepth... more information about the subject
What are the advantages of broadcast journalism?
1. Make a better connection to the audience
2. More up to date... can do live stuff
3. Much easier to change or update
Why has online journalism (convergent media) become so popular?
Online journalism has becaome so popular because all of the advantages of print journalsim AND broadcast journalism are possible. Plus it is free. Also you dont have to go and get anything or wait for a show to come on.
